Have you ever explored the health benefits of essential oils? I was first introduced to them by my mother in my early teen years. She used to use tea tree oil for everything under the sun. At that time I thought she was kind of strange and didn’t know what she was talking about when she recommended tea tree oil as a natural healing alternative. It’s funny how life comes back around full circle, because now I’m a holistic health coach and natural alternatives are a passion of mine. So, I have to credit my mother with exposing me to the world of natural medicine and putting me on this path. Now I use a variety of essential oils to maintain my holistic health. I use peppermint oils to resolve headaches, lavender oil to calm my emotions so I can sleep well at night, and tea tree oil as a topical antiseptic. The best thing about essential oils is that they can be used in so many ways to nurture your mind, body, and soul.
I have recently become even more interested in expanding my knowledge and expertise in regards to essential oils. What led you to discovering the positive affects of essential oils?
I became interested in essential oils when I began making my own hair and body butters. I wanted to educate myself on the benefits of the different oils for my hair and skin. My curiosity expanded from there as I learned that essential oils offer health benefits beyond topical use.
I started seeking out more natural ways to prevent sickness, feel more energetic, and detoxify my body naturally.
What do you love most about offering essential oils to your community?
I have been struggling to cultivate a holistic lifestyle for years. Essential oils are a non-threatening way to develop healthier habits, using less chemicals and more natural home remedies for me and my family. Because it has been so impactful, it feels natural to share this adventure with my online community. One of the best things about having this platform is that it motivates me to challenge myself and learn things so that I can help others.
How have you found the oils to be beneficial to your life?
By using doTERRA essential oils, I am learning how to treat my family’s ailments naturally and strengthen our immune systems with oils made from seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and plants. I use these oils now as a part of our overall healthcare routine including first-aid, beauty, home care and emotional balance. I used to get my oils from random places, health food stores, etc. until I was introduced to doTERRA and learned about their emphasis on purity and the difference this makes when it comes to efficacy. Also, as a wellness advocate for the company, I am able to create extra income for my family by sharing a product I love and that aligns with my values about health and well-being.
What is one thing that you want every customer to receive from your business?
I hope that every customer would find essential oil alternatives to the over the counter medicines that are currently in their medicine cabinet. In addition to that, I provide my customers with creative ideas for how to use writing to promote deeper self-awareness and well-being.
What are some simple ways that we use essential oils for health, wellness, and self care?
There are so many uses! Here are a few of my favorites:
Add a drop to honey to soothe a dry or sore throat.
Diffuse in a room to neutralize odors and elevate mood.
Use to clean kitchen counters and appliances.
Take internally with water as an antioxidant and detoxifier.
Use with Lemon in water for a healthy, invigorating mouth rinse or drink.
Inhale deeply to invigorate lungs and increase alertness.
Add to water in a spray bottle and mist body when overheated.
Apply to neck and forehead with Lavender to calm headaches.
Also, lower fevers, take the edge off hot flashes, and open blocked sinus passages.
Diffuse in a room or apply topically to calm anxiety and soothe emotions.
Apply topically to soothe irritate skin and lips.
Massage on back or bottom of feet and apply a drop to pillow at bedtime to help you relax.
Apply immediately to help calm reaction to bee sting or bug bite.
